Dear Neighbour Letter 25 Feb

Monday 25 Feb 2021

Dear Neighbour,

Please find attached an email I have sent to each of the councillors and to Stewart McDonald MP. I also forwarded it to george.gillespie@glasgow.gov.uk who is the Executive Director of Neighbourhoods and Sustainability. In it I have pointed out problems I have with the recycling bins and if you share my views can I ask you kindly please to write to them also asap to put pressure on them to finally do something about the growing problem. I have heard that GCC now intend to put food waste bins here also. I believe this will be a very bad idea and will attract vermin to the area.

For some strange reason collections are now being done at night on Saturday the glass recycling lorries turned up at 7pm and the bin lorries turned up at 11.50pm, then on Sunday they turned up at 10.10pm. Which I find unacceptable.

I found a website called “Write to them” were I was able to send an email to all 4 councillors with one go, it was very simple to use.

Some of you may not share my views, but no one can deny that the bins are an eyesore and something needs to be done about them.
I believe if this site gets much bigger it will affect house prices and the sale-ability of property looking on to it not to mention an ever increasing fly tipping and vermin problem which will explode once the spring cleaning season arrives and summer renovations start.

Ideally I would like to see them gone all together however I think I could compromise with a downsizing to about 8 bins in total.

Please act now to ensure some kind of action, the more people who complain at the same time the greater the chance of a positive result.

I will also try complaining to environmental health and public health complaining of noise pollution and food waste being dumped in the bins.
Please feel free to rattle as many cages about this as possible as GCC are turning this area in to a dump.

Thank you and kind Regards.
